In loving memory of

David Lansing Barber
November 17, 1932 - October 13, 2021

David Lansing Barber was called home to God on October 13th, 2021. He was just a month shy of being 89 years old.

David was born November 17th, 1932, in Buffalo to Ruth Vincent and Henry Lansing Barber. He has two surviving siblings, Peter and Brooke Barber. He has 2 children, Vincent Lansing (wife Karen) and Cristy Ruth Peck (husband Bob) and four grandchildren (Nicole Elisabeth Linsley, Kaitlin Evangeline Barber-Ploof, Byron Joshua Peck and Neal Thomas Peck). He was an active Christian at Augustana Lutheran, Kenmore United Methodist while living in Buffalo and Elmgrove United Methodist in Rochester.

Dave graduated from Hamilton College in 1954 where he was a member of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity.

Dave served as an enlisted officer in the U.S. Navy During the Korean War where he met and married Margaret Elise Hollingsworth, who passed in September of 1999. Margaret was also an officer in the Navy, and they were married in Newport Rhode Island where they were stationed.

After David's military service he worked for Carborundum which took him to Little Rock and Memphis. In 1964, the family returned to the Buffalo area where he dedicated his work career to education, teaching a variety of grade school subjects in the City of Tonawanda and at the Nichols School of Buffalo. Once retired and after the passing of Margaret, he moved to Rochester.

He had two very good friends that predeceased, Georgie White and Lorraine Stephens. He was a lifelong pianist who loved entertaining friends and relatives starting in college and right up to the end of his retirement home years, where he entertained every Monday night and on holidays at The Villages. He loved the Bills, the Yankees and the Sabres.

A memorial service will take place at Asbury First Methodist Church in Rochester on November 17th at 10:00 AM and his interment will take place at Elmlawn Cemetery in Buffalo at 2:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lollypop Farm (www.lollypop.org), where he adopted his cat who gave him great companionship or to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org) or to CASA Rochester/Monroe County (CASArochester.org)

"We are so sorry for your loss, Cristy, Brooke, and Peter, and families! We know Margaret, Aunt Ruth, and Uncle Henry were there to meet David, and there was a happy reunion. We know he has gone back to his Heavenly Father, and is in a beautiful place of peace and rest. He was such a kind and refined gentleman and cousin. We love him and you.
