Helen L. James, 84, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at home, surrounded by family. Helen was born in Jackson Township on October 25, 1936, to the late Roy and Blanche Alexander. She graduated from Hartford City High School and on September 1, 1956, she married Eldon "Ron" James, and he survives in Upland. Helen worked as a clerk in a grocery store and as a teller at a bank, and she also sold Avon and Mary Kay for many years. She was a member of Matthews Epworth United Methodist Church.
Helen is survived by her husband, Ron; children, Gary (Terrie) James, Brad (Luchie) James, and Bruce (L'udka Rybovicova) James; grandchildren, Joshua James, Julie (Christian) Rojas, Hope (Paul) Mukisa, Raphael Ramirez, Brandon (Bobby) Dake, and Brady (Lauren) James; and great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Eliza, and Dario Mukisa, Graclyn and Grayson Ramirez, Clark and Reese James, Taylor, Meadow, and Merrick Dake, and Dereck and Eden Rojas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Blanche; son, Jeff James; brothers, Leo (Ilene) Alexander, and Leon (EulaBee) Alexander; and sisters, Eloise (Chuck) Runkle, and Evelyn (Bob) Eaton.
Arrangements for Helen have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, where a visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., as well as an hour before the funeral service. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Brett Crump officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery.
