Willa Mae Fowler, age 87, of Quincy, died Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 7:30 am in her home.
Willa was born January 19, 1934 in Monroe County, Missouri, the daughter of Charles William and Anna Mae Smith Parker. She married David Maxwell Fowler on June 19, 1955 in Macomb, Illinois.
She grew up on the family farm in Missouri until they moved to Avon, Illinois. She graduated Avon High School in 1951. After high school, she went to Western Illinois University and received her teaching degree.
Willa loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She also loved to cook, tend her garden with her husband, entertain others and make special deserts for them. Willa and David loved to travel and ended up going to Alaska for their 50 year anniversary.
She attended Bethel Assembly of God with her daughter and loved going to their ladies coffee group that met twice a month.
She is survived by son, David B. Fowler, of Wentzville, MO; daughter, Wanda J. Gerasimek, of Quincy; granddaughter, Jillian P. Gerasimek, of Okinawa, Japan; grandson, Benjamin D. (Casey) Fowler, of Shelbyville, IN; two great-grandsons; two great granddaughters; sister, Betty (Alva) Phelps, of Galesburg, IL; and a brother, O. Wayne (Marie) Parker, of Flower Mound, TX.
In addition to her husband, Willa was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph and John Parker, and two sister Mary McKee and Carol Fleck.
Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Bethel Assembly of God with Rev. Todd Hastings officiating.
Visitation: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Bethel Assembly of God.
