"RIP Danny, Class of 1966. Prayers for comfort and peace to his family. "
Danny Philpott, age 73, of Bunceton, MO, formerly of Quincy, IL, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 3:50 pm in Columbia, MO.
Danny was born September 21, 1948 in Quincy, IL, the son of Glenn and Elma Louise McFarland Philpott. He married Joan Jacobs on September 11, 1971 in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Quincy. She survives.
Danny was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School. He proudly served three years in the U.S. Army which included a tour of duty in Vietnam. He became certified in Heating and Air from John Wood Community College and went on to work for himself as well as for several contractors throughout the Midwest. He retired from Lennox Corporation after nearly20 years as a Field Tech Consultant. Danny was of the Seventh-Day Adventist Faith where he was very active and held numerous positions including Elder and Deacon. He enjoyed tennis and spent much of his spare time woodworking. Time spent with family was the most important thing in his life. He loved his grandchildren and his "front porch conversations" and words of wisdom and advice will be missed by all.
From His Son,
The story of my dad is a thousand short ones. All those who knew him truly loved him. He was the eager, helpful voice who stopped the phone from ringing. He was unable to turn away anyone who truly needed his help. He saw himself in the struggles of others. To him, "selfless" and "giving" were more than common cliches. They were his way of life. If you knew him, you're already retelling yourself a story. It starts with "Remember the time.." and it ends with, "I really appreciated what he did for me." He had a heart which was merry and quick with a joke. Again, if you knew him, you're already smiling. On Friday, we gather to grieve a loss which is ours, and to grant a rest which he so richly deserves. My father left his fingerprints all over this world in the backstage places of our daily lives, and the world is better because he lived within it.
A Son with Broken-Hearted Pride,
Danny.

"Danny was a friend, a brother I don't have, a fellow traveler, a man that would help a guy out many times over. You will be missed greatly. Howard. a brother in law. "
"He was very well respected and liked by everyone in Lennox inside tech support. He always made a special trip when he was in town see everyone and tell his latest stories or jokes. He also sent goodies at Christmas time. He was so kind to us all and will be greatly miss. The Departure The grand old ship From port sailed away, Leaving loved ones behind On that dark sad day. Loose from its moorings The ship at last free, Straight as an arrow Across the wide sea. Watching the departure Far from their sight, Trying hard to see The last glimmer of light. Then all at once The ship is gone, But over the horizon A new distant dawn, Others will welcome it To God?s celestial shore, There to drop anchor And stay evermore. Greg Millhorn 2007©"
"If you were anywhere near Dan, laughter was abound. He was soul full of life and a heart filled with joy! God bless you and keep you Dan. "
"Dan will truly be missed by all who knew him. He was always willing to help anyone that needed help no matter how busy he was. All you had to do was to ask him about his grandchildren and the pictures came out and his face would just light up. I know I am glad for the time that I knew and worked with Dan at Lennox.
