Janet Ann Winkel Muller was born August 23, 1930 in Bancroft, Iowa the daughter of John C. and Anna (Wessels) Menke. She attended St. John's Catholic School. On June 20, 1949, Janet was united in marriage to Harold "Bud" Winkel. On November 13, 2004 she was united in marriage to Jim Muller.

With a deep love for the land, they farmed and worked in the Whittemore area for many years. In the summer she would often be seen walking beans with a crew including her kids and planted and harvested a huge garden. In addition, Janet worked at Berkley's testing fishing rods until the closure of the business in 1983. She then worked at Pete's Grocery Store, Eischen Sausage House and the Whittemore Golf Course.

Janet enjoyed being with family and friends. She attended many sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hat's and the Rosary Society. In addition, she enjoyed cooking, playing cards, embroidering, quilting and special weekends with her daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters. These days will always be cherished.

Janet died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Algona Manor at the age of 91.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Muller and children, Barb (Mike) Stence of Algona, John (Patrice) Winkel of Cedar Rapids, Cheri (Randy) Hinners of Emmetsburg, Tom (Lori) Winkel of Algona, Marilyn (Roger) Rouse of Algona and Marlene (Jerry) Hansen of Estherville, 21 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. She is also survived by step-children, Mike (Cheryl) Muller of Ankeny and Nancy (Paschal) Muller of Whittemore and sister-in-law, Marjie Menke of West Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents; two sisters, Armella Rahe and Jean Schiltz and nine brothers, Lawrence, Richard, Alfred, John, Walter, Ralph, Raymond, Arthur and Robert Menke.

Today we say goodbye to the matriarch of our Winkel family, the woman who started this big, loud, crazy group. The memories of her are far too many to list - cookies at the ready at her home, tootsie rolls in the jar, a love of cooking, the cookbook we all have sharing her favorite recipes and quilts to keep us warm. She had such a great laugh, strong faith, mean dance moves and a heart that could not be more proud of the legacy that she has built.

Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma we will miss you dearly and more than you know - but know you and Grandpa Bud are cutting up a rug up in heaven and I am sure that reunion was magical.

Love you - until we meet again

God Bless You
