Heather Anne Ator, age 74, of Quincy, died on Friday, September 17, 2021.
Heather was born October 13, 1946, in Pike County, to Russell and Elizabeth Anne Bruce Ator.
Heather graduated from Quincy High School, received her bachelor of science degree from Eastern Illinois University and a master's in education degree from Southwest Baptist University. She began her career as a medical technologist at Blessing in 1968. In 1984, she was appointed program director of the School of Medical Laboratory Technicians and served as a laboratory supervisor from 1991-2010. Twenty-six classes of medical technicians trained under her direction. She retired after 45 years of service. Her work family was very dear to her.
Heather served on the board for the Quinsippi Needleworkers organization and served many years on the board for the local Adams County Home Extension organization. The women of these groups became part of her family.
Survivors include her brother, Alex (Allison) Ator of Pearland, TX; sister-in-law, Lois Ator of Danville, IN; three nephews: Brandon Ator and Bryce (Kaite) Ator of Danville, IN, and Nathan Ator of Pearland TX; and two great-nephews, Nolan and Neil Ator of Danville, IN.
Heather was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bruce Ator.
Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Miller Cemetery in Atlas, IL with Rev. Jim Dennis officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 - 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Inurnment: Miller Cemetery in Atlas, IL.
