In loving memory of

Robert Wayne "Bob" Dilly
February 24, 1945 - September 30, 2021

Robert Wayne "Bob" Dilly of Matthews passed away on September 30, 2021 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN.
Bob was born February 24, 1945 at a whopping 12 pounds in Hartford City to Henry and Mary (Mobley) Dilly. When Bob was just 8 months old his family's home burnt. Four of his siblings died in the fire. He grew up in Hartford City and graduated from Hartford City High School, Class of 1963.
On March 19, 1967 he married Jane Ann Christy of Matthews. They shared 54 years together or as Bob would have put it "54 Long Years!" Bob and Jane built their home on her parent's farm where they lived ever since 1968.
Bob worked at St. Joe Paper Company for 46 years until retirement in 2010. He was also a Matthews EMT from 1991-2008. Bob served honorably as a Paratrooper with the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970.
Bob's lifelong hobby was flying and building model airplanes. He also loved to tease his family, especially his grandchildren. If his grandchildren had on pants with holes, he would always ask them, "Is that a wear hole or a tear hole?"
Bob is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Gary (Melisa) Dilly of Matthews, Roger (Kristie) Dilly of Yorktown, Karen (Scott) Wohlfarth of Matthews; grandchildren, Zach, Kyle, Lacey Dilly, Courtney (Calob) Swain, Kayla and Kelsey Dilly, Eva, Owen, Lily, and Roman Wohlfarth; step-grandchildren, Conner and Addie Belt. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a dear friend Stephanie Hale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Infant Barbara, Patty, Lester, Infant Carol, Dick, Shirley, and Sharon Dilly.
Arrangements for Bob have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 309 North Main Street, Upland, where a visitation will be held on Monday, October 4, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Lek officiating. Burial will take place at Matthews Cemetery.
Contributions made in Bob's memory may be made to the Matthews Fire Department or Epworth United Methodist Church. Online memories and condolences may be shared at www.armeshuntfuneralhome.com.
