Lawrence Larry A. Edgerton, 64, a proud native Vermonter, died on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, RI, of complications from Covid-19, with family at his side.
Larry was born in Middlebury, VT on January 12, 1957, the middle son of the late Elmer Bud Edgerton and Marjorie (Roucoulet) Edgerton. He attended St. Marys School and graduated in 1974 from Middlebury Union High School.
Larry loved Lake Dunmore more than any other place on earth. Growing up in Salisbury, VT, he spent every waking moment all summer in, on or under the water, swimming and water skiing. As a teenager, he worked at Waterhouses, and he was exceptionally proud to be a member of the Waterhouse family through his paternal grandmother, Mary Frances Waterhouse Edgerton. He derived his greatest joy from spending time with his children, Pat and Ali, the lights of his life.
He was a talented carpenter and he worked for several years at Basin Harbor Club, maintaining the buildings and sometimes building furniture. Like his father, the best part of any job for Larry was meeting people. Most recently, he was employed as a maintenance man at Benchmark at Forge Hill in Franklin, MA, where he enjoyed his contact with the people he called my residents.
Larry will be greatly missed by his children, Patryck Waterhouse Edgerton, of Lima, OH, and Alicia Taylor Edgerton, of Kingston, RI, both college students, and their mother, Jane DiFranza of Melrose, MA. "Although we haven't kept in touch these past few years, I have thought of you often. I always knew you'd make a great Dad, from the sounds of others, you absolutely did. You helped me raise my son for 10 years and I'll always be grateful for the way you stepped up to be the kind of father figure he needed. We worked hard, played hard and loved deeply. The memories I have of our time together are some of the most precious memories of my life. You will be missed by so many people who love you. "

"I was a monthly guest at the Hawthorn Suites Hotel for many years where Larry was employed. He always accommodated the special needs of my disabled child and me with kindness and good humor. He would also pick me up from the train station upon my arrival for the hotel shuttle. We became friends and I looked so forward to catching up with him each month. He had a wonderful listening ear. And I enjoyed hearing the latest update on his children and how he beamed with pride when talking about them and sharing pictures of them. His immense love for them shone in brightest light. My prayers are for them now. Rest In Peace dear Larry and rise in glory."

"I considered Larry as a father figure in my life. He was always there to lend a hand, give advice, lend an ear or a shoulder, and could be counted on no matter what. I met him about six years ago and at first, he was just the maintenance guy at work. Then we went to a CPR class together and stood in the parking lot talking for almost an hour, then he raced me back to work (I won by the way) and thats when we discovered we both enjoyed a good thrill in life. He was always up for a good time, always there when you needed a good laugh, and always in the mood for margaritas or shots of JD cinnamon fire. He would get off work just as I was coming in and he would sit and talk with me if I wasn't busy, for hours. If that wasn't an option, we would sit on the phone for hours and just talk about life. I loved hearing stories of when he was younger and the crazy life he lived. We planned to go to Vermont so he could show me all the places these stories took place, but sadly we never got the time to do it. Anyone who knew Larry loved him, especially the waitresses who waited on us anytime we went out together. He was apart of my daily drive home and he always answered with such cheer in his voice. I could talk to him about anything and he usually understood and never judged. I loved hearing about how much he loved his children and how proud he was of both of them. He was just an all around amazing person and this world just isn't the same without his giant smile to brighten your day. I miss him beyond words and would give anything just to tell him I loved him one more time, but I find comfort in knowing he is not suffering anymore and that I now have my very own guardian angel.Thank you for being my best friend Larry, I look forward to seeing you again someday "

"Beauty lies in the life that one has lived but a greater beauty is the hope we have in Gods promises. So with hearts filled with sadness may we remember Larry Edgerton as a smiling and caring person that touched the lives of many and was appreciated by those who knew him. know that Larry will long be remembered, not only by family and friends but also by God who extends His wonderful promises to all.
