In loving memory of

Harriett R. Carroll
January 17, 2021

Harriett R. Carroll, 93, of Slatersville, RI died January 17, 2021 in Overlook Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Pascoag, RI. Born in Slatersville, on August 16, 1927, she was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Owens) Carroll and the eldest sister of the late Claire Bond, Pauline Collins, Mary Ryan and Isabelle Theroux.

She is survived by her seven nieces and seven nephews.

Harriett overcame many life challenges having contracted a severe illness as a child which left her with limited use of one arm. Despite these challenges, Harriett was one of the first residents of Colonial Village and remained living there independently until very recently. She was forever coming up with creative ways to deal with her limitations.

Harriett worked as a luncheon aide for the North Smithfield School Dept., for many years. When school was closed for the summer, Harriet would spend her summers on Block Island and worked as a Chambermaid there. She loved the ocean.

Harriett was also very artistic. She created murals for the school where she worked, she liked to draw and enjoyed doing some embroidery. A few of her favorite pastimes were watching sports on the TV, doing word searches and crossword puzzles and spending time outdoors when she could. She loved being taken out to lunch to one of her favorite places to dine, Lindys Tavern.

Harriett loved nature and loved all of Gods furry creatures. The neighborhood animals knew there was a treat to be had when they passed Harrietts apartment or when they would spot her on one of her outdoor walks.

Her favorite saying was Be happy. She always ended all her conversations and visits with this very warm saying. She will be missed very much. Be happy, Harriett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville, RI. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, 70 Church St., West Warwick, RI.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
