Abul K.M. Zubair

Alhajj Dr. Abul Khair Mohammed Zubair, 60, of Cranston, died January 8, 2021 in Kent County Hospital, Warwick. He was the husband of Kohinoor (Begum) Zubair. Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, he was the son of Abul Fazal Tarafder and the late Jobaida Khatun.

Abul was a graduate of Bangladeshi University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and received his PhD in Structural Engineering from Southampton University. He was the recipient of BUET83 University Gold Medal because his total scores were the highest among all first-place holders of all departments in BUET. He still currently holds this record. He worked as a Senior Structural Engineer at C.A. Pretzer Associates in Cranston, RI for 26 years. Abul enjoyed singing, travelling, playing games with his family, and watching sports. He loved being with people. His laughter, joy, and adoration for his family, friends, and community will be fondly remembered.

Besides his wife, Kohinoor, he leaves their daughters, Rosanna Zubair and her husband, Feng Xue, of Warwick, and Farzana Zubair of Cranston; his father, Abul Fazal Tarafder; his older sister Ferdaushi Sarker; and two younger brothers, Ziaul Ahsan Tarafder and Kamrul Hassan Tarafder.

Private funeral arrangements were held under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI.
