Vincent J. Minchillo
May 2, 1938 - December 8, 2020

Vincent (Vinnie) J. Minchillo, 82, of North Smithfield, died December 8, 2020 in The Holiday Retirement Home, Lincoln. He was the husband of Bernadette (Landis) Minchillo. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Amalette Minchillo and Carmella (LiBassi) Minchillo.

Vinnie was a graduate of Woonsocket High School. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Bryant College and was also an Air Force Veteran. He proudly served as a police officer for the City of Woonsocket for many years until his retirement in 1981. After his retirement from the city of Woonsocket, he was also employed by the Federal Court System, security at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton, West Roxbury, and Providence, as well as Twin River Casino, utilizing his criminal justice background. Vinnie was a member of the Local FOP, The Elks, and the Italian Workingmans Club of Woonsocket, RI. Although he was deeply passionate about his work, spending time with his family was his favorite pastime. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with his beloved wife and was ever-present for his grandchildrens sports games, school performances and milestones. He was the patriarch of the family and will be missed immensely.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 5 children, Georgeann Bourgeois and her husband, Thomas of North Smithfield, Lisa (Minchillo) LeClerc and her late husband Dennis LeClerc of Woonsocket, Michael Okenquist and his wife, Bernadette (Charbonnier) of Uxbridge, MA, Keith Minchillo and his wife Lisa (Goyette) of Woonsocket and Terri-Lynn (Okenquist) Longpre and her husband Keith of Lincoln; Twelve grandchildren, Katelyn Bourgeois of Brighton, MA, Kristy, Stephanie, Thomas Bourgeois of North Smithfield, Hailey LeClerc of Woonsocket, Joshua Minchillo of Pascoag, Jeremy, Shane and Julia Okenquist of Uxbridge, MA, Anna, Abigail Joseph Longpre of Lincoln, and his lifelong friend, Charles Khoury of Woonsocket.

The family would like to acknowledge their deep gratitude to the entire staff of the Holiday Retirement Home. Vinnie was truly blessed to be surrounded by loving and caring staff during his stay as a resident.

His private viewing is under the direction of Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020 at 11:00 AM in St. Ambrose Church, 191 School St., Albion, RI 02802and may be viewed live at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/29248771 Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions may be made to the Holiday Activities Fund, 30 Sayles Hill Rd., Manville, RI 02838.
