George A. Sauvageau

George A. Sauvageau, 71, of Woonsocket, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Trinity Health Rehabilitation. Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late George and Pauline (Picard) Sauvageau.

George was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and having been awarded with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medals with three Bronze Stars, the Sharpshooter/Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and two Overseas Service Bars. He was a technician for the Foxboro Corporation. George was an avid bowler who enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles and racing. He was an excellent piano player, and loved his cats.

He leaves his siblings, Roy Sauvageau of Wakefield, Paul Sauvageau of Riverside, Marc Sauvageau of Sarasota, FL, and Lisa Sauvageau Despots of Venice, FL, as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, David Sauvageau.

A committal service will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11 AM inthe Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 S. County Trial, Exeter, RI. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Health Rehabilitation, 4 St. Joseph St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
