George G. Bousquet, 75, of Blackstone, died Friday, August 19, 2016 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Viscione) Bousquet. Born in Blackstone, he was the son of the late Antonio R. and Florence H. (Cabana) Bousquet.
George was a 1958 graduate of Blackstone High School. He was employed as a carpenter for many years, and also as a home improvement contractor and construction supervisor. He most recently worked for and retired from Wentworth Hills Golf and Country Club, Plainville, MA. George was a eucharistic minister and lector of St. Pauls Church, and was involved in many parish activities. He served as a former president of the St. Paul/St. Theresa Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was a recipient of the Top Hat Award. He was also a former treasurer of the South County Council of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Andres Council.
George was an avid golfer. He also loved baseball and played throughout much of his life, including Legion baseball and in the US Army for the V Corps Guardians in Germany. He also played softball in Woonsocket for the White Eagle Cafe.
Besides his wife, he leaves his sister, Marie Mercure of Milford, MA and many nephews, nieces and Godchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Brackett, and three sisters, Rachel Richer, Celia Pollard and Norma Hull. George was also a friend of Bill W.
His funeral will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Pauls Church, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, from 5-8 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the St. Paul Conference of SVDP c/o Dan Gagnon, 18 Dawes St., Blackstone, MA 01504.
