Nancy Wernsman
December 10, 1939 - September 23, 2021

MOUNT PLEASANT- Nancy L. Wernsman, 81, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Nancy was born December 10, 1939, in Golden Pond, Kentucky, the daughter of James E. and Ella Ree (Hendon) Colson. She graduated from East Peoria Community High School. In 1958 she was united in marriage to Carl Kath Jr., they later divorced. Nancy drove truck for Kath Trucking for more than 20 years. She also drove school bus for Head Start in Tazewell County, Illinois. In 1991, she was united in marriage to Howard Wernsman. Nancy was an avid reader, and a great cook. She enjoyed being outdoors (gardening, fishing or hunting), crocheting or out looking for her next great antique find.

Nancy is survived by four children; Daniel Kath of Peoria, IL, Kimberly Ireton of Wayland, IA, Carla (Richard) McNamee of Mount Pleasant, IA, and Connie (Chris) Berry of Waco, TX; two stepchildren, Kevin (Beth) Wernsman of Metamora, IL, and Kim (Ben) Elbert of Morton, IL; 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a sister Phyllis (Richard) Hart of Fulton, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, a son Timothy Kath, son-in-law Richard Ireton, daughter-in-law Carol Wernsman, and a brother Bobby Colson.

According to Nancy's wishes there will be no services. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is caring for Nancy and her family.
