"I met Shirley 43 years ago when she came into the Speech Clinic at NMU for speech therapy. I was a student at the time and she was one of my first clients. Her unique personality quickly taught me that I needed more than 'book knowledge'. She was very instrumental in shaping my abilities as a therapist. We stayed in touch and remained friends. Then, in the late 70s her family asked me to accompany her to Germany for three weeks so she could visit her sister, Sandy, who was living there at the time. We had some wonderful adventures on that trip, one of which was a side trip to Rome. It had been Shirley's dream to see the Vatican. I was always trying to think of things that could enrich Shirley's life. One day I had this idea that she had the ability to care for a cat and that a cat might give her some comfort and joy. So, I tricked her into watching a kitten for me for two days. When I came to pick up the kitten she decided she wanted to keep it. This started many years of enjoyment for her. Shirley and I had a tradition. Every Good Friday we would go to McDonald's for a fish sandwich. When she was unable to go out anymore I would bring the fish sandwich to her. We didn't miss a Good Friday for 40 years. COVID, however, changed that. Shirley was one of the bravest people I know. She faced life with courage, humor and faith. She was a good friend. I will miss her. Susan Payant "

"Sending my condolences to all of the Beaudry Family on the passing of your sister Shirley. Shirley always knew how to put a smile on your face, she was such a "tease" as a youngster as we all grew up with her and got to really know her personality. I will always remember all of us walking together to St. Michael's School every day and chatting all the way there and back home. I have many wonderful memories of times spent with all of you. Sending all of my love to all of the Beaudry Family."
