Theodore "Ted" Redding
July 21, 1944 - September 19, 2021

Parnell- Theodore "Ted" E. Redding was born July 21, 1944, in Knoxville, Iowa. He went to be with his Savior on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at his home, with Doris, his loving wife of 49 years by his side. Ted was a graduate of University of Northern Iowa (BS) and University of Iowa (MA). He taught Science for 34 years. On May 27, 1972, Ted was united in marriage to Doris Hershberger at Kalona Mennonite Church. They lived in rural Parnell, Iowa while he taught at Williamsburg for 33.5 years and Iowa Mennonite for half a year. Upon retiring he spent 10 years volunteering with Mennonite Disaster Service as State Coordinator for the Iowa MDS unit and Treasurer for Region 3 MDS. He also served as crew leader and Project Director at several Binational MDS projects. Ted enjoyed woodworking in his shop, where he built furniture to sell at the MCC Relief Sale. He also enjoyed sitting at the supper table with Doris and solving the Jumble and crossword puzzle in the newspaper.

Ted's Kalona Mennonite Church Family was very important to him. He taught Adult and Youth Sunday School classes, Summer Bible School classes, helped with remodeling projects, and in the kitchen with many meals.

Ted is survived by his wife Doris, a twin brother, Tom (Gay) Redding of Bussey, Iowa; a sister Sally Murphy of Chariton, Iowa, a sister-in-law Dororthy (Cletus) Miller of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Bertha (Oliver) Redding , a brother Bill Redding and a son Timothy Jay "TJ" Redding.

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Kalona Mennonite Church. Burial will be held in West Union Cemetery rural Wellman. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial has been established for Kalona Mennonite Church.
