SIGOURNEY-Robert E. (Bob) Wehr, age 70, of Sigourney, died Thursday, September 16, 2021, at his home.
Bob was born October 22, 1950, in Ottumwa, to Joseph and Wilma (Dumont) Wehr and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1968. On September 2 ,1972, he married Paulette Fogle in Sigourney. Bob served in the 872nd Maintenance Co. in the Army Reserves for six years. After high school he worked at Cassens Mill, Wayne Feeds, Marvin Byers doing grain bin construction and carpenter work with Raymond Niman. He was a 4th generation farmer, working with his grandpa Wehr, father, uncle Clement and Dumont uncles before taking over the farming operation. He also did custom baling for over 45 years. Bob was also a dealer for many seed companies, starting with McCurdy and ending with LG Seeds. Bob was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, Farm Bureau, Keokuk County Cattlemen's Association, American Angus Association, Silver Buckles Dance Club and Corvette Club in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife: Paulette; three children: Nickolas Wehr, Jill Wehr and Erik (Brandi) Wehr, all of Sigourney; nine grandchildren: Nolan (fiancé Maizie) and Jolie Wehr, Alyssa and Austin Landgrebe and Wyatt, Klayton, Paxton, Quinton and Alexis Wehr; two sisters: Mary Lewis of Des Moines and Jeanette Gent of Kalona and in-laws: Kenneth and Lois Fogle. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Russell Wehr and a daughter: Natasha Wehr.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Revs. Robert Lathrop and David Wilkening officiating. The service will also be livestreamed on the Powell Funeral Home facebook page. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sigourney with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the church, where there will be a vigil service at 3:00 p.m.
