Lavonne Faye Pilling, known as Bonnie, age 98, of Council Bluffs, Iowa (formerly of Macedonia) passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Bonnie was born on June 6, 1923--on a farm west of Macedonia--to the late Ellsworth and Ruby (Towne) Plumb. Bonnie was one of 6 children. She grew up in the "Donie" area and graduatedfrom Macedonia High School in 1940 at the age of 16.

On June 12, 1940, Bonnie married Laverne "Togg" Pilling in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They made their home in Macedonia, and their marriage was blessed with three children: Nancy, Hubert, and Don.

Bonnie started working at the Macedonia Post Office in 1965. She also worked at the Pilling Service Station; she would say she was the bookkeeper and the "honey doer" for her husband.

Bonnie was very active in her community. She was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church, charter member of the Sigma Gamma Club, and a member of the Historical Society. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

In 2001, Bonnie and Togg were Grand Marshals in the "Donia Days" parade. They enjoyed traveling to California to see her sisters every winter and also made a trip to Hawaii.

Bonnie enjoyed many of her children's activities and grandchildren's sporting events. She loved her family and her many friends.

Over the years, Bonnie's passion was making Christmas stockings for her family and friends. (She thought she had made over 90 of them.) She also enjoyed collecting Santa Clauses. Bonnie enjoyed reading and spending time with family.

Due to declining health, Bonnie moved into Risen Son Christian Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa where she lived until she passed away.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband (Laverne Pilling), 4 sisters and 1 brother, and a son-in-law and niece.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Griffin of Centralia, MO; Hubert Pilling and friend (Barby James) of Council Bluffs, IA , and Don (Carol) Pilling of Urbandale, IA; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marilyn Pilling of Council Bluffs, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.

"Bonnie was the best. She always had a smile and at Halloween she had the best home made treats. She always asked me if I had a joke for her. Loved that lady. "

"We lived next door to Bonnie and Toag when I was growing up. They were always so good to me, Bonnie always had a smile and a hug for me when I would come back to Macedonia. Such fond, fond memories. Cindy (Raney) Jeffrey"
