In loving memory of

Chanler Christian Hagens
January 5, 1997 - September 12, 2021

Chanler Christian Hagens, age 24 of Austin, Texas passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday September 12, 2021 following a short and sudden illness. She was born January 5, 1997 to Illiyana Chavon Flores and Latonia Johnson Sorrells in Austin, Texas. Chanler grew up in Austin with her Mommy and Daddy Illiyana and Jeramey Dale Gibson.

Chanler was also know by "Baby, Tia, Chan, Chaniqua, Channy, Toots and many other cute nick names."

Chanler was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cordelia (Momo) and Geronimo (Pa) Flores.

Chanler's mom describes her as, "a happy, hyper baby, always smiling". Growing up she was super silly, mimicking famous actors, like Steve Erkle and others, whom she could impersonate to the "T". Even at a very young age she was very technically inclined to where she continued to use her skills throughout her life. In high school, she excelled in everything she attempted, including her AP classes and serving on the dance team at Travis High School for four years, including time as an officer.

Following high school, she headed south to Texas A&M Corpus Christi for a year to study Broadcast Journalism, then moved to Denton, Texas and studied Marketing and Production at the University of North Texas. Unfortunately, COVID prevented her from completing her coursework and her illness prevented her from fulfilling her dreams. These included moving to New York City to pursue modeling and/or marketing and production.

Everyone who knew Chanler recognized the drive in her to succeed at whatever she tried. Chanler was very photogenic, when she walked in a room she would captivate everyone's attention. She was the light that everyone wanted to be around. She had a heart of gold, but did not wear her feelings on her sleeve, in fact, she was a very private person in that regard. Her smile was contagious and can never be replaced. Chanler was kind, caring, most of all, she loved being a "Tia" to Camden and Belle Mosley, children of her sister Chantel Hagens "Tel" (Taylor Mosley "Tay"). In addition, left to cherish her precious memory are her mother and father Illiyana and Jeramey Gibson, along with Alissa Horne (Travis), Jaimi Moses, Marchelle Fowler and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank all of Chanler's care team at Seton Main. We appreciate the love and dedication given to her during her stay

"My deepest condolences to Chanlers family and friends. Chanler was my mentor and someone I looked up to in high school and I?m so shocked and in denial about everything she and her family have had to go through. She was my ?big sister? on drill team and I was super blessed to have had her be a part of my life. I know she didn?t go without a fight, but I know she?s in a much better place and no longer in pain. Chanler will forever be missed. May she Rest In Peace."
