MARLENE J. BELL
April 3, 1933 - September 10, 2021

Marlene Jane Bell, 88, of Marquette, died Friday morning, September 10, 2021, at UP Health System-Marquette after a short illness.

Marlene was born on April 3, 1933 at Princeton Location, Michigan, a daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Parent) Versailles and was a lifelong Marquette County resident. She was a graduate of Graveraet High School.

On August 31, 1957, Marlene was married to Robert W. Bell at the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marquette and together they enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage.

Marlene enjoyed traveling and she was the person who orchestrated family trips every summer. In their retirement years, Marlene and Bob enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida. She was a great cook and enjoyed caring for her flowers at their East Bass lake home in Gwinn.

Survivors include four children, Cindy (Mike) Menucci of Gwinn, Rob Bell of Marquette, Kathy (Loren) Drake of Negaunee Township and Mike Bell of Suamico, WI; six grandchildren, Tony and Tyler Menucci, Ian (Morgan Jacoby) Bell and Haylee (Bryce) Muller, Cam and Nick Drake; three siblings, Marie "Swede" Hawke, Jeanette Carlson and John (Barbara) Versailles; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death beside her parents was her loving husband, Bob Bell, on April 6, 2021; also four siblings, Ernestine (Vince) McCarthy, Cecelia (Paul) Crowley, Jim (Gloria) Versailles, and Donna (Art) Aartila.

A graveside service will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday, September 17th at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gregory Heikkala officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to a charity of the donor's choice.
