Donald Carroll
September 5, 1940 - September 12, 2021

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Lu Verne Township Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Lu Verne Community Center.

Donald "Briggs" James Carroll, the son of Dennis and Wilhelmina "Billie" (Arndorfer) Carroll was born in Lu Verne, Iowa on September 5, 1940. He grew up in Lu Verne, graduating from Lu Verne High School in 1959.

Don held many jobs throughout his life. He worked for the railroad, road construction, bridge painting, gas truck driver, drove a truck for his brother Tom, Bituminous and Greenfield Transport, Hannah Fertilizer Plant manager, and started farming after his dad passed away in 1976.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, collecting trains, camping, snowmobiling, riding minibikes, and racing stock cars.

Don passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society in Algona. He was 81.

He is survived by his children; Bruce (Ann) Carroll of Corwith, Corinna (Brent) Hefty of Lu Verne, John (Donna) Carroll of Oklahoma, Becky (David) Gaskill of Spirit Lake, Ann (Dean) Menke of Algona, and Joe (Jessica) Carroll of Burt; 18 grandchildren and one on the way; 15 great-grandchildren, sisters; Denise McNeilly of Texas, Rosemary (Kurt) Paeper of Humboldt; sister-in-law; Beth Carroll of Lu Verne, and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Lavonne Davis, brother; Thomas Carroll, brother-in-law; Tom McNeilly, and twin infant sons; Charles and Edward Carroll.
