Harold Gray Groce

KING-Mr. Harold Gray Groce, 78, of King, NC passed away September 9, 2021 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. The son of the late Thad Teague and Lorraine Marley Groce, Harold was born May 10, 1943 in Forsyth County and married Sylvia Jean Whisenhunt on August 8, 1971. He was employed with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for 34 years, retiring in 2008 from the Information Technology Department. Harold was a 50 year member of Woodland Baptist Church and the Ambassadors Sunday School class. In his spare time he loved to golf and take photography of weddings, church sporting events, and his children's games. His family always came first. In addition to his parents, Mr. Groce is preceded in death by a brother Thad Teague Groce and two sisters Patricia Ellis and Debbie Groce. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years Sylvia Whisenhunt Groce of the home, three children Jody Groce (Amber) of King, Nathan Groce (Huguett) of Ft. Meyers, Fl., and Patrick Groce (Meranda) of King, four brothers Gene Groce (Sue) of Rural Hall, Ricky Groce (Donna) of Winston-Salem, Ronnie Groce (Daphne) of Lexington, and Gary Groce (Deborah) of Rural Hall, two sisters Deloris Ayers of Clemmons and Judy Poplin (Gary) of Winston-Salem, nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor Mr. Groce is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Woodland Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be at Gardens of Memory Memorial Park in Walkertown, NC.
