Mary Ellen Ruggeberg, 69, of Maquoketa, Iowa, and formerly of Delmar, Iowa, passed away on Saturday morning, September 11, 2021, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.
A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, September 20, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. There is no visitation. Burial will be at a later date.
Mary Ellen Wallace was born on March 8, 1952 in Iowa, to Elden and Edna (Cook) Wallace. She was a 1970 graduate of Delwood High School. She married Ronald E. Ruggeberg on January 31, 1971 in Delmar, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Daniel and Jeff.
Mary had worked as a waitress at Michel's Truck Stop in Maquoketa from 1980 to 1987 and from 2000 to 2010 she had been a Sunday country deliverer person for the Quad City Times Newspaper.
Mary enjoyed listening to music, playing music on her organ, and watching old western movies. She participated in a flea market every year in Thomsen, Illinois, was a hobby farmer, and owned and loved pets, especially her two dogs Sarah and JoJo.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Daniel (Boualoun "Loun") Ruggeberg of Rochester, MN, and Jeff Ruggeberg of Rochester, MN; 3 grandchildren, Nakiya, Tierra & Jozee; a sister, Debra Bagley of PA; and brothers, Roger (Maty) Wallace of VA, Billy Wallace of AZ, and David (Diana) Wallace of DeWitt, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ronald on February 19, 2013.
