Rina Elizabeth Gonzalez, age 48 of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away in San Marcos, Texas on September 2, 2021. Rina was born in Sonsonate, El Salvador on September 17, 2021 to Antonio Cortez and Catalina Berrios.
Rina grew up in El Salvador, but followed her family and their dream of coming to America, immigrating to Los Angeles, California. While in LA, she was neighbors with Jose Gonzalez and over the years, they became closer and finally married in 1992. In 1996, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and they both entered into employment in the Casino industry, working at the MGM Grand, Monte Carlo, as well as independent casinos in a variety of jobs and most recently as a Cage Cashier for the past 20 years.
Always on the move, Rina loved playing Co-Ed Softball with Jose and raising her two children, Walter and Tania. The house was a home, full of friends and family, whom she cared for deeply and who loved her in return. Or, if she was alone she might watch Korean drama on TV to read the subtitles and clear her mind.
Rina was preceded in death by her father Antonio Cortez and family members Bertha Lilian Alegria, and Alberto Alegria.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 24 years, Jose Gonzalez, son Walter Gonzalez, both of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Tania Gonzalez of San Marcos, TX; her mother, Catalina Berrios of California; brothers Arturo Cortez and Joel Antonio Cortez of California.
