In loving memory of

Marian Palese-Paris
October 7, 1923 - September 2, 2021

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our loving, generous and beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Marian Palese-Paris (aka Gram or GiGi) on September 2, 2021 at the age of 97. Marian, a lifelong resident of Rochester, NY, continued teaching us life lessons and sharing her joy of life and commitment to family until the very end.

Marian was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Costanza Valerio, her first husband, Vincent Palese, Sr., her second husband, Louis Paris, Sr., her brother and his wife, Michael and Kay Valerio, and her brother-in-law Malcolm Modeen, and her sister-in-law Margaret LaPorta.

Marian is survived by her children Vincent Palese, Jr., Diane Sumner, and Mark Palese; her grandchildren and their families: Debora and Bruno Goessman; Stephen Palese and Lynn Richard; Christian and Alexis Sumner with great-grandchildren Guinevere and Stark Sumner; and Meghan Sumner and Holger Fleckenstein, with great-grandchildren Noa and Sylvie Sumner; and her sister Mae Modeen, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her many family members from the Paris family; she talked about her family often, and kept them close, with pictures of all of her great-grandchildren (Palese and Paris) covering her refrigerator at home. She cherished them all.

Marian enjoyed time with family, cooking, baking, big holidays, flowers, gardening, crafts, story sharing, LuGia's ice cream, after-dinner chocolates, visiting new store openings, and traveling. She took many road trips and vacations with her adored late-husband Lou, many shared with her sister and brother-in-law Mae and Malcom. She had a big heart, open arms, time for everyone, and for many of us, she was our home. We love her and will miss her dearly, often, and deeply.

Marian's last years were not easy but were made easier by the constant care of her granddaughter. The family owes a debt of gratitude and appreciation to Debora for the unparalleled love and care she selflessly provided Marian over these last four years, in turn, giving us all extra time and memories with our family rock, and our great love, GiGi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10th from 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane, 14626. Marian's Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 10 AM at Church of the Assumption, 20 East Avenue Fairport, NY 14550. Entombment will be held in White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to a charity of your choice in Marian's memory.
