Obituary for Rebecca Quiroz
5/20/35 - 8/31/21

Rebecca Quiroz, 86, passed away on August 31, 2021, in Austin, Texas. She was born in Mendoza, Texas and was the fourth of eleven children of Tereso and Paula Tristan.

Rebecca worked in the food industry for over 30 years in various major grocery stores and her career ended with her retirement from Safeway. She loved to dance, cook, garden and listen to country music, especially Willie Nelson and George Strait. Additionally, she had a passion for nursing that she pursued at Austin Community College and received a Nursing Assistant/Aide certification at the age of 77. She cheered for the Longhorns but was known to pull for the Aggies as well!

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Johnny Quiroz; her parents, the late Tereso and Paula Tristan; siblings, Jesus Tristan, Delia Tristan, Augustine Tristan, Joe Tristan, Alicia Tristan, Raul Tristan and Alex Tristan.

She is survived by two brothers, Tony Tristan Sr. of Creedmoor, TX., Domingo Tristan of Carrizo Springs, TX.; and one sister, Julia Tristan of Austin, TX.

To cherish her memory, she leaves behind three daughters, Terri Rangel of Austin, TX, Rose Ann Frye of Nashville, TN, Marilyn Broussard of Broussard, LA; and one son, John Quiroz of Austin, TX,; eight grandchildren: Brian James Frye, Rebecca Ann Rangel, Jesse Sonny Rangel, Clayton John Broussard, Valerie Nicole Tovar, Kristina Renea Quiroz, Sydney Elisa Quiroz and Ava Lee Quiroz; and three great-grandchildren, Slade Royce Saucedo, Karter Danielle Green and Catherine Rose Broussard.

Pallbearers at the funeral will be Clayton John Broussard, Alex Tristan Jr., Joe Elvis Tristan, Jesse Sonny Rangel, Slade Royce Saucedo, Tony Tristan Sr. and Domingo Tristan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Broussard, Brian James Frye, Linda Paschall and Gilbert Rangel.

The Quiroz family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Southpark Meadows Nursing Facility and Heart to Heart Hospice services.

Visitation will be 8:30AM to 9:30AM Friday, September 3, 2021 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 4600 E. Ben White Blvd, Austin, TX. Burial will follow at 12:30PM at Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 W. Wm. Cannon Drive, Austin, TX.

Rebecca will be deeply missed by everyone she touched and all who loved her.
