Ofelia Gonzales Trevino, 98 years old, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at St. David's South Hospital in Austin, Texas. Ofelia was born and raised in Raymondville, Texas. She attended Raymondville Schools and graduated from High School in 1942. She was a member of the Raymondville Women's VFW Auxiliary during WW II. In 1959 she married Jose Nicolas Trevino and lived in Raymondville. She retired from the Raymondville Independent School District in 1991. Ofelia then moved to Edinburg, Texas to help raise her two grandchildren. During her time in Edinburg, she became a member of the Catholic Daughters of Mount St. Carmel. Ofelia lived in Edinburg until 2016 when she moved to Austin to be closer to her sons.
Ofelia is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Nicolas Trevino; her parents, Juan and Luisa R. Gonzales; her brothers Elois (Margie†) Gonzalez and Larry Gonzalez. She is survived by her daughter, Hilda I. (Oscar) Leal; her sons, Joe T. (Berniece Rios †) Trevino and John Trevino; and her grandchildren, Oscar Nicholas and Anica Marie Leal.
There will be a Rosary on Wednesday, September 1st at 7:00 P.M. at Harrell's Funeral Home in Austin, Texas. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, September 2nd, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 2309 Euclid Avenue, Austin, Texas. She will be buried at Live Oak Cemetery on Twin Creek Road, Menchaca, Texas.
