Carolyn R. Blind
February 26, 1933 - August 23, 2021

August 23, 2021 at the age of 88. We are devastated to announce the passing of our mother, so soon after our father's passing on May 7, 2021.
Carolyn graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School and also studied piano at the Hochstein School of Music. She was married to Edward J. Blind on September 26, 1953 at Corpus Christi Church in Rochester, NY. Carolyn worked at various jobs over the years, including at Abbott's Custard, but her love of music and teaching inspired her to become a piano teacher in Irondequoit. Over her 50-year career she taught hundreds of children and adults and she remembered each one fondly. She was an active member of both the Federation of Music Clubs and Guild of Piano Teachers. Carolyn enjoyed traveling to many states and her daughter, Sue, cherishes the memory of a train trip across the country to New Mexico with her mother. Carolyn enjoyed watching many shows and specials on PBS and was a Downton Abbey fan.

Leah Bertram wrote on Sep 3, 2021:

"I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Blind?s passing. She was my piano teacher from elementary school through high school and her influence in my journey as a musician carries on to this day. I went on to become a music educator myself and now have a piano/violin studio in West Irondequoit. My condolences and prayers as you go through this difficult time. Leah (Kipp) Bertram"

Sue Nichols wrote on Aug 29, 2021:

"Mrs. Blind was an incredibly patient and kind piano teacher. I feel truly blessed to have spent every Tuesday at 5:00 from 1979-1983 with her. I learned far more lessons than just how to play the piano. She was a very insightful and wise person. "
