Eleanor Charlene Johnson, age 93, went home to Glory with Christ on August 25, 2021, in Kyle, Texas. Charlene passed away peacefully at Orchard Park Assisted Living, Memory care section as she had been on Hospice care for the past several months of this year. Cheryl and Danny had one last visit with her at our home on Saturday August 21, 2021, as she spent the day with us before slipping into a deep sleep syndrome. She will be dearly missed on this side of heaven, but we will see her again in the eternal life with Christ that we all look forward to as believers!
Charlene was a native of California being born and raised in San Bernardino on February 8,1928, to John W. Gravlee and Jewell Gravlee formerly of La Junta, CO. Charlene loved California and especially San Bernardino as it was a very lovely place at the foothills of the surrounding mountain vistas. John and Jewell would raise two girls, Yvonne, and Marie as their own children along with Charlene as they all grew up, Charlene would graduate from San Bernardino High in the mid '40's and go on the marry the love of her life, Ralph Eugene Johnson of Knoxville, Tennessee, as it was wartime during those years. Charlene and Eugene were faithful members of the Mt. View Church of Christ and loved the church. They nurtured and helped others in their walk with God and helped the church grow and dedicated their lives to it. Eugene would go on to become an Elder and would work beside Charlene's father John and Gowan Evans as elders of the church. They never wavered in their faith in the gospel of Christ! They would come to have many brothers and sisters in Christ through the years.
Eugene and Charlene would have their first child, Cheryl L. Johnson, in October 1947 and adopted her brother Stanley K. Johnson some five plus years later. Most of all they were a loving family and would spend most of their early years in the San Bernardino/Riverside area. Eugene would later go on to achieve his teaching degree from UCLA. Charlene went to work in the medical field, working as office manager for Henry Gong, MD for over 17 years before switching to Library science at Riverside Community College where she retired after spending many years there.

Charlene lived a life well lived and her time on this earth has made an impression on all that knew her for her faith, veracity, love, audacity and caring for others! She leaves not only family but many friends and acquaintances that are glad that they knew her while she passed this way! We wish to thank all those that cared for her in Orchard Park Assisted Living as she was well cared for during her sojourn there! She will be greatly missed by friends and family but her memory will be greatly treasured and her memory will live on in each and every heart she touched!
