In loving memory of

Tamela Christian
August 29, 1961 - August 17, 2021

Tamela "Tammy" Marie (Schweitzer) Christian, 59, was called to heaven on August 17th, 2021 at St. Mary's Campus in Rochester, MN. After a 6 month battle of Small Cell Lung Carcinoma she was told the cancer was in remission in which she took great pride in. She fought until the very end when her body was taken over by an antibody and severe respiratory illness.
Tammy was born August 29th, 1961 in Rochester, MN to Daryl "Bud" and Dorothy (Tye) Schweitzer.
She graduated from St. Charles High School. Tammy wore many hats through out her working career, a few to mention are Kranz, manager of Kwik Trip for many years, office manager Burnett Realty, regional manager for Vertex, and running/managing Sunset Motel in Lake City, MN with her husband Andy. Tammy married Michael Duellman of St. Charles, and although their union would later dissolve, they were blessed with their son Casey Duellman in 1988. Being a mom was one of her greatest joys in life and she was incredibly proud of him. Tammy was engaged to Dirk Riedemann before he was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 1999.
Tammy was united in marriage to the love of her life Andrew Christian on December 12th, 2012. The two of them devoted their lives to each other. They loved their children, grandchildren, and family with all of their being. It was the simple things in life that brought them the most joy, whether that was sitting around listening to music, watching nature, and just being present in the moment with one another. They loved each other fiercely. They created a life together that just made sense. Andy was her devoted caregiver for the past 6 months and did everything in his power to ensure that she felt loved and compassion throughout all of the obstacles life threw at her. Tammy handled these things with poise and elegance. They were able to savior their last few months together with ease knowing that they had each other to lean on.
Tammy enjoyed being artistic and expressing herself through art. She was known for her artistic abilities and sharing them with everyone. Her bright soul was always going above and beyond to make people feel special, loved, and heard.
She is survived by her mother Dorothy Schweitzer (St.Charles), her son Casey (Janae Nelson) Duellman (Rochester, MN), husband Andrew Christian (Lake City, MN), brother Jon (Patty) Schweitzer (St. Charles), nephew Karl Schweitzer (Dennison, MN), sister Jody (Bruce) Wiza, nieces Harley and Kylie Ramsey, great nephew Kyrie Bird (Dover, MN),step-daughter Farran (Phillip) Berg (Dodge Center, MN), step-son Cody Christian (Washington, DC), step-grandchildren Reese, Zoey, and Harrison Berg, and adoring dog companion, Parker.
She is reunited in heaven with father Daryl Schweitzer, fiancé Dirk Riedemann, grandma Ruth Schweitzer, grandma Margaret Bartz, uncles Charles and Jack Schweitzer, Art Tye, aunt Pat Schweitzer, and dog companion-Prozac.
Visitation will be from 9-10:30 AM on August 29th, 2021 at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles, MN. Funeral services for Tammy will be led by Funeral Celebrant, Dianne Rislow at 10:30am. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles, MN. Following the burial we invite family and friends to The Shack Bar in Dover, MN for a 60th birthday/celebration of life from 1-4pm.

"I have so many childhood memories with Tami. She was like a sister to me. We stayed over at each other\'s house as often as we could. When they lived in Chatfield and Zumbrota I would stay with them all summer. The entire Schweitzer relatives spent Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays together and then would decide who got to stay over night at who\'s house for school Holiday breaks. Every year our Aunt Maureen and Uncle Glenn would take a group of nieces and nephews up to Como Zoo. Tammy and I, along with Pam, Brenda, and Faithann Schweitzer were always a group that went together. Tammy introduced me to my first real love and the first year of dating we always doubled dated with Tami and her guy Larry Bamlet. Tami lived with us until the end of the school year when they moved to Chatfield. So many memories. Tami was so fun to be with, and like I said I loved her like my sister."
