Nellie Nadine Busse
February 24, 1948 - August 18, 2021

Nellie N. Busse, 73, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, in Davenport, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Monday, August 23, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation will follow the services and burial will be at a later date.

Nellie Nadine Koop was born on February 24, 1948 in Hampton, Iowa, to Reinhart and Alma (Whitson) Koop. She grew up in Kesley, Iowa and was a 1966 graduate of Aplington High School. She married Gary Busse on May 3, 1975 in Clarksville, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Jennifer and Kurt.

Prior to her marriage, Nellie had worked for Lursen Insurance and Kesley Locker. After her marriage to Gary, they lived in Allison where she worked as a babysitter. They moved to Maquoketa in 1987, and she did house cleaning, worked at Pacific Coast Feather Company, and for RonAnn's Floral Shoppe.

Nellie had been very active as Girl Scout Leader in Maquoketa for many, many years. She enjoyed gardening and cross stitch.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Gary Busse of Maquoketa, IA; children, Jennifer Busse of Maquoketa, IA, and Kurt (Christine) Busse of Maquoketa, IA; 3 grandchildren, Hunter Busse, Sebastian Pritt & Juliana Pell; her mother, Alma Koop of Aplington, IA; a sister, Carol Koop of Aplington, IA; a brother, Jakie Leon (Terri) Koop of Aplington, IA; and a sister-in-law, Donna Koop. She was preceded in death by her father Reinhart Koop, and a brother Kenneth Koop.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
