Rodolfo Luis Gonzalez
July 24, 1941 - August 17, 2021

Deacon Rodolfo Luis Gonzalez, of Kyle, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 after reaching the age of 80 years old. His final days were spent surrounded by immediate family.

Rodolfo Luis Gonzalez was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Rodolfo Gonzalez and Guadalupe Ortiz Gonzalez. There he met and married his wife of 56 years, Bertha Martinez. In Laredo, Texas, both Rodolfo and Bertha raised their family where he worked many years as a truck driver. While in Laredo, he became a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where he service in the choir. In 1996 Rodolfo and his wife moved to Kyle, Texas where they would establish their forever residence nearby their daughters and their families.

After much prayer, spiritual direction, formal course work and pastoral-skills development in 1998, he was ordained a Deacon and served at Santa Cruz Catholic Church. Here he was able to dedicate many years of his life in helping others in service to his faith through proclaiming the gospel, preaching the homily, witness in marriage, quincearneras and performing baptisms. He also assisted with visiting the sick and providing spiritual guidance. He service as a member of Knights of Columbus, Guadalupanas, Movimiento Familiar Christiano and Rosaries (Espanol). His past times were hunting, singing, playing the guitar and spending time with his family. He will be remembered by his assertive yet comedic personality. We will miss his joyful presence during group and family gatherings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo Gonzalez and Guadalupe Ortiz Gonzalez.

Rodolfo is survived by his wife, Bertha Martinez Gonzalez; daughter, Bertha G. Martinez and husband Francisco Martinez, Jr.; daughter, Guadalupe Maria Gonzalez and husband Jesus Gonzalez; daughter Blanca Estela Paez; son, Rodolfo L. Gonzalez, Jr. and wife Jennifer Gonzalez; sister, Rosa Elia Valdez; Sister, Carlotta Gonzalez Ortiz; sister, Dolores Gonzalez Ortiz; sister Gloria Ornelas; and sister Celia Ester Gonzalez. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Services will be held August 23, 2021 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, Buda, TX at 5:30 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 with burial to follow at San Miguel Cemetery in Uhland, TX.
