Margaret A. Clauss
March 24, 1937 - August 17, 2021

Margaret A. Clauss, 84, passed away at 9:00 am, Tuesday, August 17, 2021. She was born in Jasper on March 24, 1937, to Verena (Wirthwein) Haller and Frank Haller.

Margaret was a 1955 Jasper High School graduate. At the age of 54, she graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate Degree in Social Work. Although she worked at various places, she is best known as a cashier at Buehler's IGA and the Social Worker at Friends for Kids.

Margaret loved gardening , checking Facebook, and spending time with family and friends. A generous person, Margaret gave of her time and talents to many endeavors and organizations: Friends for Kids; St. Vincent DePaul (Grandma's store); Garden Club; RSVP; Daughters of Isabella; Daviess Community Hospital Auxiliary; Diocese of Evansville Wisdom Days; and Our Lady of Hope Perpetual Adoration Chapel. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Hope, and volunteered her services there preparing and providing funeral dinners. In 1997, Margaret was recognized for her many hours of volunteer service to her community with the Hagel Award.

Those who now cherish Margaret's memory include her children: Ann (Rick) Perkins of Washington, John (Kelly) Clauss and Phil (Jamie) Clauss all of Jasper; and Christy (Jerry) Grannan of Fort Wayne. Margaret leaves behind a sister, Donna (Gary) Boeglin-Royer of Fort Wayne. Margaret adored her six grandchildren: John Grannan; Elizabeth Perkins; Jenna Grannan; Addison Clauss; Drew Clauss; and Levi Clauss.

During her life, Margaret mourned the loss of her parents, Verena and Frank Haller; her husband, John Clauss; her sister, Mary Shawley; and brothers, Hilbert Haller, Tony Haller, and David Haller.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Margaret's memory Our Lady of Hope - Funeral Dinners, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington IN 47501, or to the Catholic Education Endowment Fund, PO Box 916, Washington IN 47501.

Visitation for Margaret A. Clauss is set for Friday, August 20, 2021, 5:00-8:00 pm, at Our Lady of Hope, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington. The Daughters of Isabella will hold a prayer service, at 4:45 p.m., immediately before visitation begins.

Funeral services for Margaret A. Clauss will be Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10:00 am. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the funeral service, 9:00-10:00 am. Father Paul Ferguson will be the celebrant. Father Ferguson will be assisted by Yvonne Evans.

Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery.

"Margaret was my classmate and a neighbor to my husband Jim Dittmer. We always looked forward to visiting with Margaret at my class reunions. She was such a sweet and kind lady. I lived 2 blocks east of her growing up and we walked home from school many times. RIP Margaret Sincere sympathy to all her family Marilyn Dittmer"
