Tuesday, August 10th , Robert Earl Waters, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away, ending his battle against Multiple Myeloma. Robert battled cancer over the last 6 years demonstrating the determination, bravery and personal faith that has characterized much of his life. Robert is survived by his younger sister, Donna Waters, his ever-adoring wife of 42 years, Paula Sims Waters, his children, Joshua Waters, Eron Cooper, and Jena Waters as well as his son-in-law, Christopher Cooper and grandchildren Cadence Lewis, Maddox Cooper, and Mara Cooper.
Robert was born on October 7, 1953 in Tifton Georgia to Otis and Lucile Waters. He graduated from Tift High School where he played football and began some of his life-long friendships. Robert attended Georgia Technical Institute and Mississippi State University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He formerly worked in Cumming as the Southeastern Regional Manager of Tengo, Inc. Robert very much enjoyed quiet time casting his line into just about any lake, pond, stream or sea. He enjoyed reading and was a life-long learner. He did not shy away from meaningful or thought-provoking conversation. He enjoyed being an active member of Lake Lanier Crappie Club as well as the Atlanta Saltwater Sportsman's Club. He attended Browns Bridge Church and valued the close relationships he built through his small group. Robert was a sincere friend and a committed family man; constantly advising, encouraging and supporting those he cared for. Robert was a Christian whose quiet faith was put on display after his diagnosis with a terminal illness. Those close to him observed his deep faith in a good and omnipotent God and peace about his own mortality that surpasses understanding.
A Celebration of Life honoring Robert will be held Saturday, August 14, at 3:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

"Dear Paula and family,
We are so sorry for your loss and pray God?s peace will help you throughout the days ahead. We were thinking and talking about Robert this past week and wanted to share some of our remembrances of Robert. We were in his home group together, and the word that came to our mind to describe Robert is ?seeker.? We always admired the questions he would pose to the group during our different studies. He wasn?t shy about what he didn?t understand and the discussions that spawned from his desire for deeper knowledge were always fruitful and related to us all. We learned from HIS desire to learn and understand the truth of God?s word. And, we remembered how Robert always loved our little life celebrations and get togethers. I have to fondly say that we shared a common interest for diet cream soda! I wanted to bring him some so badly when I visited a few weeks ago. I explained to Robert how I had tried to surprise him with it, but several stores were out of it. He smiled big, that was the best smile to see...it is a great memory.
We also remember his love for fishing and how Paula had accompanied him on a few fishing trips in the last few years, and how much they enjoyed this time together!
Lastly, at his retirement party two years ago, we gave him a framed picture of a man, sitting solo in a small fishing boat, out on calm waters fishing. It was a quiet depiction of him and his hobby. He really liked that picture! We like to think of our brother now, in peace, in calm waters, sitting in the love of God.
God bless you all!
Love in Christ,
Lamar and Gail"

"Paula and Family
May you find comfort in the Lord during this time. My remembrance of Robert is our childhood years to graduation as we were neighbors and our families were always visiting. Robert always had a smile, but the day he came to visit and introduced you and your son to me and my family, his smile was one to behold. Hold your memories within your heart. God be with you and your family
