In loving memory of

Lynn Le Roy Knode
February 23, 1942 - July 24, 2021

Lynn Le Roy Knode, 79, passed away July 24, 2021, after a short battle with brain cancer. Lynn was born February 23, 1942, in Benson, MN, the son of Arthur Ray and Hilda Knode. He lived near Benson until age 4 when the family moved to Brainerd, MN. The family returned to Benson when Lynn was in 9th grade. He graduated from Benson High in 1960 and from the University of Minnesota in 1966 with a business degree. He married his high school sweetheart Betty in 1964. He served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from May 1966 to February 1969, stationed mostly in NY City. Lynn and Betty moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1969. The bulk of Lynn's career was spent selling residential real estate and doing property management.

Lynn was forever the "group organizer." He wanted to know everyone and had a host of friends. He loved making people laugh. He was happy being at coffee groups, Happy Hours, playing billiards, attending plays at our little theater, or just visiting. Over the years Lynn & Betty traveled whenever they could, visiting places they never thought they would see. After Lynn retired, he spent time doing pencil art drawings as well as watercolors. He made cards and pictures for friends and relatives that reflected their interests, hobbies, and special events.

Lynn is survived by his wife Betty of 57 years, brothers- and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and their families. Betty would like to thank the caregivers at North Scottsdale Retreat and also the kindness and care of the Hospice of the Valley organization. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley (HOV) or to a charity of your choice.

Lynn's ashes will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

"Lynn always had a joke or a story to share. We enjoyed his travel advice and memories. Lynn was a cherished addition to our coffee group and various outings. He delighted in getting people together. He introduced Dennis and me to his newest friends, Dennis and Sue. Our joke was that we were Dennis and Sue, number one and they were number two. Obviously when he was with them the order was switched. Our group is so sad and diminished by his passing. He is missed."

"Fawzy and I were lucky enough to move across the street from Lynn and Betty on Beverly Lane, and to subsequently become friends. We had many breakfasts and dinners with Lynn and Betty along with Frank and Sandi who lived right across the street. Lynn loved to socialize and "coffee" at Einsteins (and other locations) was strictly adhered to. He loved to socialize so much that he and Frank scheduled trimming the bush that was on both of their properties together - mostly so they could "talk". Lynn was a special guy, and we will miss him. Thank you for touching our lives. Fawzy and Margo Malouf"

"My favorite memory of Lynn was when he rode with me inn our RV when moved it from Arizona to Minnesota. He made a boring trip interesting. We did get a lot of questioning looks from other IRVers when we pulled into the camp grounds."
