Kristin "Kris" Kay (Mathies) Woebke was born on December 16, 1963, to Allen "Jack" and Fern (Weller) Mathies in Denison, Iowa. Kris passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and loved ones, on July 18, 2021, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 57 years.
Kris was baptized February 16, 1964 and confirmed on May 5, 1975 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. She graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1982. Following high school, she ventured throughout Iowa for a short period of time and eventually moved back to Denison where she made her home. Kris married Daniel Woebke on June 2, 1990, at the Denison Country Club. The couple was blessed with the birth of two children, RaShel and Dan Jr. Apart from being a stay-at-home mom, she assisted with running Dan's Redemption Center for over twenty years.
Kris was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. She was a volunteer for many years at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. She was involved in various activities throughout the school year. She could be found running the ball diamond concessions. Kris was also a Girl Scouts Leader. She enjoyed landscaping and took pride in her yard. She also loved her flowers and her cats and dogs. She was an avid camper and enjoyed spending time at Yellow Smoke Park. Before their health diminished, Dan and Kris spent quality time together riding their Harley Davidson. Above all, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Kris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dan Woebke. She is survived by children, RaShel (Morgan) Van Houten of Alta, Iowa and Daniel Jr. (Tabitha Huebert) Woebke of Denison; four grandchildren; and five brothers: Steve (Kathy), Jim, Jerry (Cecilia), Mark (Cindy) and Russ (Deb) Mathies; and many other relatives and friends.
