In loving memory of

Jim Hodges
July 12, 1940 - July 16, 2021

Jim Hodges, 81, passed away July 16, 2021 in Austin, Texas. He was born July 12, 1940 in Jay, Oklahoma. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend, his greatest joys in life were spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, working in his yard, reading, watching his grandchildren play sports and taking family trips.

He graduated from Jay High School in 1959 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa in 1963. Jim retired from Arrow Mirror & Glass in Houston as Chief Financial Officer and was a member of the Episcopal Church. A lifelong fan and youth baseball coach, he embodied the lessons of the game - teamwork is the best work, keep your eye on the ball, aim for the fences, sacrifice is necessary in the most crucial moments.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte, of Austin, Texas; son Jeff Hodges (Julie) of Austin; daughter Jennifer Hodges (Kevin Benoit) of Orlando, Florida; grandson Joshua Hodges (Allison) of Temple, Texas; granddaughter Jordan Hodges of Austin; brother Everett Hodges of McLoud, Oklahoma; sister Susie Thornton (Clifford) of Noel, Missouri; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family is immensely grateful for the love and support of caregivers, family, lifelong friends and many wonderful neighbors throughout his life.

"Many months have come and gone
Since I wandered from my home
In those Oklahoma Hills where I was born.
Many a page of life has turned
Many a lesson I have learned
Yet I feel like in those hills, I still belong."

Our strong and loyal patriarch has ridden off into the hills to catch the setting sun. We will miss him forever.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date. In his honor, donations may be made to Hospice Austin (4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Austin, TX 78759) or The Settlement Home for Children (1600 Payton Gin Road, Austin, TX 78758).

"To Charlotte and the full Hodges family. I have been in touch with Charlotte whom I have known for many years. But I want to tell you what a blessing it was to have met Jim, and so many members of your family when I did. It was inspiring to see the strength of the bonds Jim had with Charlotte, his grown children and grandchildren. My heart goes out to each of you as you continue to process the loss of your dear Jim, the patriarch of the family. As you know, I am truly with you in the healing process. Right beside you. God Bless. ??Karen Sperry"
