A Memorial Mass for Anna Marie will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Visitation will be 1 hour prior. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in St. Joe.
Anna Marie (Berte) Von Bank was born on November 15, 1928, in St. Joe, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Anna (Freilinger) Berte. She grew up in St. Joe and graduated from St. Joseph High School.
On February 1, 1950, she married Cletus Peter Streit at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In 1952, they moved to a farm near St. Joe. Together they had five children. Cletus was killed in a car accident on October 10, 1959.
Anna Marie was united in marriage to Melvin "Fritz" Von Bank on November 15, 1961. Together they had three children.
She loved being a mom and grandma. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, gardening, listening to music, and going out to eat. In her earlier years, she enjoyed dancing and in her later years, she enjoyed going to the casino.
Anna Marie died Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society of Algona. She was 92.
She is survived by her children, Ruth (Sid) Simonson of Whittemore, Jean (Joe) Mikes of West Bend, Charles (Pansy) Streit of Livermore, Linda (Gary) Carney of Cedar Falls, George (Kelly) Streit of Bode, Donald (Sandi) Von Bank of Bode, Delores "Lori" (Ed) Beisch of Fenton, Karen Cunningham of Baxter; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Anna Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Clete Streit and Melvin "Fritz" Von Bank; grandchild, Brittany; a great-grandchild; Serenity; siblings, Alvin (Mary) Berte, Raymond (Maxine) Berte, Agnes Berte, and Francis Berte; and many in-laws.
