John Dana McDaniel
September 3, 1940 - July 9, 2021

John Dana McDaniel, age 80, of Cumming Georgia, passed peacefully Friday, July 9, 2021. He was born in Lansing Michigan, the second of three children to William D. McDaniel and Sarah T. McDaniel, September 3, 1940. John graduated from the University of Georgia in 1962 with a BA in Finance. John served on the Student Council and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, X Club and G Club (Swimming), and the Inter-Fraternity Council.

Johns's passions included, showing his love and devotion to his wife, daughters, four grandchildren, fishing, playing tennis, golf, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. He will be deeply missed.

Capt. McDaniel served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years, including one year in Vietnam. John continued his career as a General Manager in the Manufactured Housing Industry and on the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church staff.

Married for 58 years to Elizabeth Dabe McDaniel, the love of his life. John was a devoted father to Jennifer Lynn McDaniel Visperas, Dana Elizabeth Hancock, and her husband Ross Bell Hancock. He was a proud grandfather to Brandon Taylor Visperas, Margaux Elizabeth Visperas, Katelyn Elizabeth Hancock, and Madison Katherine Hancock. He is also survived by, his brother Douglas Taylor McDaniel and his wife Harriet. Predeceased by his sister, Cheryl Cooper (Oliver Cooper).

Please join the McDaniel family and loved ones to celebrate his life on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church (APC), 180 Academy Street, Alpharetta, Georgia, 30009. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be directed to the "Memorial Fund" of APC.
