Donald "Don" Eugene King
February 16, 1928 - July 3, 2021

Donald "Don" Eugene King, 93, of Glendale, Arizona, passed away July 3, 2021. Don was born February 16, 1928 in Hopkiton, Iowa to Alma and Louis King. He served in the Navy and was stationed at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego.

Don attended the University of Iowa and studied pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for Osco Drug stores throughout the Midwest before moving his family to Phoenix in 1972, where he briefly owned his own pharmacy in north central Phoenix. Later her worked for SupeRx, and after his retirement, he continued to work as a part-time pharmacist around the Valley and at the Gila River Indian Reservation.

Don was a lifelong Hawkeye fan and enjoyed playing golf, and later in life, kept himself busy by participating in all kinds of exercise classes from Zumba to yoga as well as doing puzzles and reading. He loved to be social and was well-known for his wit and charm.

He is survived by his daughter and son, Linda and John King; stepsons Robert and Jim (Cindy) DeMoss; grandchildren Rebecca (Trey) Koeneke, Kari Keller and Tracy (Al) Townsend; great-grandchildren Joseph and Emily Koeneke, and Finnley and Esmé Townsend (expected July 2021); sister Mary Lou; and son-in-law John Keller. Don is preceded in death by his wife Nellie and stepdaughter Nancy Keller.
