Obituary for C. Robert "Bobby" Cox
C. Robert "Bobby" Cox, 76, of Washington, passed away at 7:14 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021. He was born February 6, 1945, in Washington to Alva and Myrtle (Bussinger) Cox.
Bobby was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School. He served honorably in the United States Army, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from the City of Washington Utilities Department. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved gardening and sharing his harvest with others.
Those who now cherish Bobby's memory include: his wife, Debra (Strickland) Cox of Washington; sons Branden and Damien Cox of Washington; daughters Christina (Joshua) Smith of Quantico, Virginia, and Kiersten Cox of Washington; and a brother Samuel Cox of Martinsville. Bobby was blessed with five grandchildren: Blaze Smith, Zailey Smith, Brayden Cox, Kieran Cox, and Kaiya Padgett.
During his life, Bobby mourned the loss of his parents, Alva and Myrtle Cox; a brother, Gerald Cox; and a sister, Winifird Cox.
A private service was held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the St. John Cemetery with Yvonne Evans officiating, and military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW.
