Clifford Thompson, Sr.
April 11, 1931 - July 3, 2021

On the eve of Independance Day, Saturday, July 3, 2021, Clifford Reginold Thompson, Sr., 90, of Lewiston, MN passed away peacefully on the family farm surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 11, 1931, on Vinegar Hill, Rushford, MN, to Carl and Emma Thompson. He was united in marriage with Mathilda Hoch, during a candlelight service, on June 4, 1952, in Winona, MN.
During his lifetime, Clifford was a plasterer and farmer, and a member of the Lewiston American Legion Post 90 for 60 years. He will be remembered for his love of his late wife Mathilda, 6 children, 22 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed auctions, collecting John Deere tractors, traveling with Mathilda, and sharing his lifetime experiences through his soft-spoken stories.

Clifford (Cindy) Thompson Jr. and their children: Lindsay (Adam) Gust and their children: Makadyn, Braelyn, Aspyn, Camersyn, Lawsyn, and Oaklyn; Hillary (Luke) Scott and their children: Brycen, Brynlee, and Hendrix; Mitchell (Hilary) Thompson and their children: Dylan, Sophia, and Cullen; Courtney (Isaac) Matzek and their children: Cade, Tenley, Hadley, Kenzley, and Finley; Whitney (Todd) Hulshizer and their children: Baylor and Kapree;
Gene (Barbara) Thompson and their children: Andrew (Alicia) Thompson, Nathan, Ryan, and Rachel;
Donald (Holly) Thompson and their children: Ilaria (Geoff) Nichols, Tori (Dillon) Brugger, Benjamin (Christina) Thompson and their children: Augustine and Elizabeth; and Jake;
Michelle "Shelly" (Joshua) Koenig and their children: Garrett, Bryant, and Alyana; and sister Lillian Reps.
Preceded in death by his wife Mathilda, brothers Olaf, Alfred "Henry," Carl, Martin, Orlin and Harold, sisters Evelyn and Madeline and parents.
Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Silo, in rural Lewiston, MN from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Silo with another visitation one-hour prior. Pastor Bert Mueller will officiate services.
