Madeline Violet McClanahan, 85, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2021, at her home in Homosassa, Florida. She was born in Princeton, West Virginia on September 7, 1935, to Bessie and Fred Johnston. Madeline lived in West Virginia until 1987, when she moved to Homosassa, Florida with her family. Madeline's interests included caring for her family, her two dogs, and her flowers. She loved listening to music and dancing at The Shed in Homosassa. Madeline loved shopping for bargains at local thrift stores. Madeline is survived by her six children, Patricia Jones, Shirley Hodge, Robert (Teresa) Jones, Diana (Bobby) Proffitt, Coy McClanahan, and John McClanahan, her brother, John (Geraldine) Johnston, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Madeline is preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Fred Johnston, stepmother, Lena Johnston, sisters, Etheline Goff (her twin) and Gladys Tibbs, brothers, Melvin Farmer and David Johnston, half-brothers, Edward Johnston, and Carl Johnston. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Jones and Coy McClanahan. Funeral Services will be held at a private family ceremony (family graveyard) near Princeton, West Virginia on Black Oak Mountain, at an undetermined date in the future.
