Gene M. Slota, was the youngest of nine children born to Catherine and Metro Slota on January 22, 1931 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Gene is survived by his older sister Millie Wilburn, who also lives in Arizona. Gene excelled throughout school and decided to join the Air Force after high school. His luck, they sent him to weather school, then to Greenland for much of his tour. He also enjoyed a stint in Knoxville, TN before his honorable discharge and return to Allentown to attend Lehigh University. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and joined Phi Beta Kappa. Gene and his cousin Richard took a trip to California after college and both loved Los Angeles. Gene really like California, deciding to stay in L.A.. So he joined the Food and Drug Administration to stay in L.A. Gene initially lived in Highland Park and then moved to Torrance so his nephew could attend college and stay with him.
