A memorial service for Dean will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Bancroft. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bancroft.

Dean William Larsen was born in Algona, Iowa on June 16, 1947 to William and Doris (Greij) Larsen. He attended school in Burt and graduated from Burt Community High school in 1965. He attended the Winter Quarter Farm Operations Program at Iowa State University. In 1964, he began farming on the family farm and other nearby land. He left farming in 1976 and lived in Des Moines, IA and then Colorado to pursue other interests. He returned to the farm in 1980 and lived there until his death.
Dean was confirmed in and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bancroft until it closed, and then became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Burt.
Dean was interested in antique tractors and farm machinery and had collected and puttered with some interesting pieces, including a 1951 WD Allis-Chalmers tractor which his dad used to farm with.
Dean was passionate about environmental issues and all of the family pets. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Doris Larsen (2002) and William Larsen (1959). Dean is survived by his siblings, Verlyn (Carol) Larsen of Hutchinson, MN, and Jayne (Tanya Vanderberg) Larsen of Elysian, MN.
