He was a devoted and proud worker at Electric Wheel for over 30 years, and never missed a shift. Garld was an avid and passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan, that even Stan Musial could not possibly have had a bigger fan. Many years, he could b efound standing proudly at the K of C baseball diamonds rooting for his favorite team, with his cooler of soda not far from his side. He loved coaching and did so with local baseball teams. He was always attending his great-grandson's "The Boy" games.

Garld took great pride in collecting. He would always be found along with his cousin Jim, at the many junk yards and yard sales around town. He had an extensive collection of Dick's beer. Garld loved his family and was always looking forward to the next family gathering at the farm. He loved having family over for dinner on Sundays and never let good food go to waste.

Garld was a part of the Neighborhood Committee that was donating lots of items to children in his area. After Lolly passed away, Garld still tended the flowers and the birds in their yard. He will always been known for his smile, that always seemed to light up the room when he came in.

Garld is survived by his four children, Tammy Hultz, Pamela Hultz, and Michael Todd Hultz, all of Quincy, and Rick (Chrisine) Powell, of Payson, IL; two grandchildren, Lisa (Ryan) Lair, of Palmyra, MO, and Sydney Hultz, of Quincy; one great-grandson, Brycen Lair "The Boy"; three siblings, Robert (Marcia) Hultz, of Palmyra, MO, Lavina Glas, of Quincy, and Juanita Hultz, of Mendon, IL; three brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Delors) Wingerter, Lewis Wingerter, and Mike Wingerter; four sisters-in-law, Carole Watker, Sue Frazier, Katie (Richard) Bowen, and Sharon (Ray) Moyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Garld was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lisa Hultz, three brothers, Glen (Linda) Hultz, Ronald Hultz, and Kenneth (Karon) Hultz, and his sister Darlene Hultz.

"It pains me to write this. Garld was like a Father to me growing up. Garld had a huge impact on who I am as a person, as he did on a lot of kids in our neighborhood. He took so much interest in us and spent so much time with us. THE fondest memories of childhood revolve around time spent with Garld. To this day when I hear an old country song, I think of Garld. He was always singing them. When I smell cigar or pipe smoke, I think of Garld. When I go to my Grandkids baseball/softball games. Garld would take us up to Washington school after he got off of work to play ball for hours. Trips to the farm, bottle digging and on and on. I look at my own life and think of the impact that I could make or could have made on kids lives if I just spent half the time and energy that Garld spent with us kids. I truly loved Garld and will miss him greatly. My prayers are with Tam, Pam, Todd, Lavina, Robert and all the family that were so impactful on my life. "

"I just don't even know what to say. I never imagined when I posted my father's day message to uncle Garld that it would be his last. I have so many happy memories of spending time with my Hultz family. I can almost smell his pipe and hear him singing Country Roads. I can see his big grin as he Todd and I drove around junkin'. Having to stay quiet while we watched the Cardinals play ball. Walking over to Aunt Lavina's house. I always considered all of the Hultzs my relatives. I am so grateful for all the memories with all of you. Trying not to bawl like a baby right now. Thinking of all of you!"

"Todd, Tammy, Pam, One of my favorite people in this world. Too many memories to write in this box for sure. Loved this guy like my father, and he treated me like one of his own. Also, had received my share of corrective action from this man, from baseball, to life. I will miss his conversations, his friendship, and his loyalty to his family, and others. "Tubby", RIP, I loved you, Greg Gilbert "

"Words cannot express my sadness. I called him ?Dad? for 25 years? A kind soul. I loved it when he serenaded me on a whim? I miss the smell of his pipe? I miss that wonderful, ear to ear smile. I miss Sunday dinners while watching the Cardinals play. Thank you for being an amazing Grandpa to my daughter, Sydney Michael. "
