Sharon Kaber
It is with great sorrow that the family of Sharon Kaber announces her passing Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in Buda, Texas. She was born in Kerrville, Texas, October 12, 1951, to Bertha and Melvin Lueders. In 1972, she married Ronald Geckler lll and they had two children. Their marriage dissolved in 1984, and Sharon remained single until meeting Jerry Kaber. They were married on Thanksgiving Day in 2005. They enjoyed ten years of marriage until he passed in June of 2016. She mourned his death every single day. About a year after Jerry's death, Sharon found out she had renal cell carcinoma, and she battled it the next four years.
Sharon was fun-loving and well-loved among her children's friends as they were growing up: a mother to all. She'd take a gang of kids off-roading or hunting rabbits. She would allow her children to drive the dirt roads and would yell, "LOOK OUT BARN, HERE WE COME!" She'd give you "Hell" because "She loved you", and she made the best enchiladas you'd ever tasted.
Sharon was vibrant and loved to dance. She loved horses, going out on a boat to fish, and living in nature. Mostly, Sharon loved her family. She worried about them all the time and made everyone promise to BE CAREFUL! Her passing leaves a void in many lives, and she will be greatly missed.
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother Bertha Hammett, her father Melvin Lueders, her brothers James Lueders and Walter (Butch) Lueders, and her loving husband Jerry Kaber. She is survived by her sister Melba Hughes and her daughters Tammy and Sherry, her son Ronald Geckler IV and his children Alyssa, Skyler, and Quinton, her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Doug Benning, and their children David and Evelyn, her stepchildren Mike Kaber, Tawnya Kaber, and Leasha Kaber, and her nephew Jimmy Lueders.
Visitation will be 10:00AM to11:00AM Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX. Funeral Service will be at the funeral home 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
