Dolores Jean (Balzarini) Kuykendall was born in 1928 in Portland, OR and passed away on May 29, 2021. She had wonderful memories of her childhood in a small neighborhood on Ainsworth. She attended Whitaker School, Jefferson High School, and Lewis and Clark College. Dolores met and married her husband, George, at First Presbyterian Church in Portland. She couldn't drive by a nursery without buying some plants for the yard, and couldn't go camping or picnicking without bringing home a rock for her rockery. She loved the beaches and the forests of Oregon and Washington. For over fifty years, Dolores was an active member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, and was the Washington State President from 1998-2000. She did secretarial work for a number of doctors and businesses, and retired from WA State Cooperative Extension. Several years she spent long, rewarding days assisting the 4-H program at the Clark County Fair. Her son and his wife reside in Vancouver, WA. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2005 where her daughter resides with her husband and three children. She took great pride in watching her children and grandchildren pursue their favorite activities. Dolores loved to read and volunteered for many years at her local library, and later at her assisted living complex. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren. Committal service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on June 15 at 10:00 AM. Family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dolores' memory to Federation Forest State Park.
