Marvin Pruitt
August 16, 1938 - June 7, 2021

Marvin Pruitt, age 82, of Quincy, died on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 9:15 pm in Blessing Hospital.

Marvin was born August 16, 1938 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Forrest and Gladys White Pruitt. He married Corrine Riley on October 12, 1957 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2014.

Marvin was a graduate of Quincy High School. After a brief college career, he left to join the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Marvin also played for the Kansas City Royals before retiring from baseball. Marvin was the owner of All Home Improvement Company in Quincy for over 40 years. The Pruitt's were former members of Westview and Spring Lake Country Clubs in Quincy, as well as Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. Marvin was an accomplished golfer and was a past Club Champion at the Plantation Golf and Country Club. Marvin and Corrine enjoyed "wintering" in Florida for six months each year.

Survivors in include two daughters, Pamela Jean (Les) Holcombe of Florence, AL and Lori Jo (Richard) Houseweart of Quincy; six grandchildren, Heather Johnson of Quincy, Steven (Nicole) Houseweart of Alaska, Haley Houseweart of Quincy, Pruitt, Pryce and Payton Holcombe, all of Florence, Alabama; three great-grandchildren, Brennan, Liam and Sophia Johnson; a fiancée, Gerrianne Fuller; and two brothers, Ronald Pruitt and Richard (Dana) Pruitt both of Quincy.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Steven Pruitt, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Pruitt.

Graveside Service: 11:30 am on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Quincy Memorial Park with Rev. Dennis Thomas officiating.

Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
