Lynda K. Martin
October 18, 1946 - June 5, 2021

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lu Verne.

Lynda Kay (Northrop) Martin was born October 18, 1946 in Fort Dodge, daughter of Paul and Fern (Logan) Northrop. She grew up in Lu Verne and graduated from Lu Verne High School in 1964. Following high school, Lynda moved to California where she began her career in law enforcement for over 21 years.

On July 1, 1971, she was united in marriage to Delano Martin in Ramona, CA. They made their home in Lakeside, CA. In 1986, the couple retired from law enforcement and moved to Lu Verne to care for her mother. The couple loved spending the winter months in California and Texas.

Lynda enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts, needlework, crocheting, hunting, and fishing. She was a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League, California Law Enforcement, Iowa Sheriff's Association, Humane Society, and ASPCA. Lynda was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lu Verne and was the current treasurer.

Lynda entered into Heaven on June 5, 2021, at her home in Lu Verne. She was 74.

She is survived by her long time companion, Neil Martin of Illinois; sister, Myrna (Myron) Hinz of Emporia, KS; nieces and nephews, Terry (Don) Sigmund of Lenexa, KS, Rick (Bess) Hinz of Andover, KS, Michael (Christy) Hinz of Lehigh Acres, FL, Randy Hinz of Wichita, KS; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lynda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Del; son, Derek; parents; sister, Elda Northrop; and brother Denny Northrop.
